Both in and outside of Kharanaq there are numerous possibilities for excursions and trekking.
Sights in Kharanaq include the five towered Citadel and its labyrinth of streets with surprising views over the surrounding landscape, a holy islamic shrine, a Caravanserah, a hammam, a shaking minaret and a dry river with black moonlandscaped hills.

For active travellers there are possibilities for camel riding, bike tours, hiking and mountain climbing.
Excursions include trips to Yazd, Meybod, Asr Abad, zoroastrian temple of Chak Chak and many villages surrounding the 2700 meter high mountain of Kharanaq.
